Chef / owner Tatsu Arai first opened a French pastry and luncheon shop in 1980. Customers soon hungered for more and the menu and hours were expanded to include dinner. Consistently excellent food and warm and gracious service has earned Tatsu’s the Zagat’s prestigious top 40 award and a ranking as one of the top five restaurants in Kansas City.
The restaurant has been singled out for countless awards. The Zagat Restaurant Guide has honored Tatsu’s year after year with their prestigious rankings and the local press has bestowed honors like “one of Kansas City’s top five restaurants for food” and “best-kept secret”.
